Seriously – this display of singing talent (?) would have been amusing enough, but when you add Lou Dobbs, Larry King and Wolf Blitzer – well, I’m still chuckling several hours later!! I certainly vote for a repeat performance this coming Friday after the next Larry King Live Christmas Music Special – which will be featuring Celine Dion, James Blunt and David Foster.
“Kings of Congo” on 360°: Anderson’s recent 60 Minutes segment on the dangers currently facing the mountain gorillas in the Congo was repeated – on 360° - and it was just as heartwarming to see these magnificent animals, and as discouraging to see the unnecessary violence they face, as it was this past Sunday. The 360 blog also has links to Wildlife Direct and the Dian Fossey Fund, if you’re interested in donating to help keep the gorillas safe. BTW - Anderson's prior report on mountian gorillas in October 2006 for AC360° is currently featured on the DFGF homepage!
Anderson’s comedic side: We all know that Anderson Cooper can be very funny – and it was in full evidence yesterday morning during his stint as co-host on Live with Regis & Kelly. AC recounted his “drunk girls”/ATM/Blackberry/McEnroe ID/cab hailing ‘escapades’ from the previous night, and Gary Tuchman replayed the ‘tale’ on 360°. And then played a ‘reaction’ from the ‘dissed’ John McEnroe!!!
Nice Guys Finish ________?: We’ll all find out in another three weeks after the Iowa Caucuses! Time Magazine columnist Joe Klein and Gloria Borger weighed in on the turnaround for both Barack Obama and Mike Huckabee (who will be appearing on Larry King Live this Monday). Joe Klein made an interesting observation, as follows: “As the war in Iraq has kind of subsided, as we've learned that Iraq doesn't have nukes, as security issues and toughness issues have receded, both Hillary Clinton and Rudy Giuliani have receded. And who have emerged? Barack Obama and Mike Huckabee, the guys who say, you know, let us reason together. Can't we all just get along here?”
I must admit that I hadn’t even considered this turnaround for these two (or four) candidates in those terms, so I’m glad that he pointed it out from that perspective – it was very enlightening!
Keeping Them Honest: Part 1 – Joe Johns had a report on alleged political corruption in Alaska, involving Senator Ted Stevens, Congressman Dan Young and State Representative Pete Cott. If the allegations against any of them are true – I hope they’re prosecuted and punished. I am SO sick and tired of hearing these kinds of stories – not that they shouldn’t be reported, but that there’s even a reason that they need to be reported in the first place!!
Keeping The Honest: Part 2 – It seems than Florida Senator Bill Nelson will also be taking up the cause of properly compensating Samuel Snow, from last night’s report by David Mattingly. FINALLY – some righteous justice for a change …
Keeping Them Honest: Part 3 – We saw a brief preview of Randi Kaye’s report on the increase in witness intimidation as a result of a prevailing “stop snitching” movement within certain segments of society. Anderson did a report on this subject for 60 Minutes earlier this year – Randi’s report is scheduled for Monday’s AC360°.
Ah well, it’s been another extraordinary week!! As a quick update, Gary Tuchman has received our interview questions and will be answering them as time permits – and trying to get back with responses by the end of the month – thanks to all those who submitted questions and other suggestions!
Have a great weekend – drive safely – and enjoy quality holiday time with family & friends!!

Newsblooz--Great post as usual.
I loved when it showed Lou Dobbs walking across in front of the 360 singers. You reckon he is the naughty one? And that stupid look on Larry Kings face was priceless.
Even though it was heartbreaking, I watched the 60 Minutes piece again. I am glad someone suggested putting the links to the Wildlife Direct and the Dian Fossey Fund on the 360 website.
Yes the boys, Anderson and Gary had a great time last week. You can tell that they really like and respect each other.
There is so much pork out there and a lot that we probably don't know about, but with 360 "Keeping them Honest" segments, we are learning more and more about them. Just like Alaska's bridge to nowhere.
I hope that Samuel Snow gets more benefits for what he went through and anyone else for that matter that was not invovled and wrongly accused.
I wonder if Anderson will tie his "stop snitchin" piece in with Randi's on Monday night.
Looking forward to Gary answering our questions.
Have a good weekend.
Gosh - I really am still laughing about Friday's "glee club" - I do hope there's at least one repeat performance!
Joe Johns and Drew Griffin (and others) are hitting it hard as far as the "Keeping Them Honest" segments are concerned - and I hope there are no plans for them to let up anytime soon. They're tenacious (especially Drew) and it's sometimes a difficult assignment!
I'd like to see a 'tie-in' between Randi's piece and the segment that Anderson did for 60 Minutes - it's a serious problem and is affecting the justice system.
Thanks for your kind words! :-)
Newsblooz: Let’s see, we saw the 360 Crew’s version of the Vienna Boys’ Choir gone wild and drunken Rockettes; I am afraid to ask what is next! I loved it; they have a great sense of humor! I don’t think Josh Groban, Andrea Bocelli, or Michael Bublé (three of my favorites) have anything to worry about!
Anderson and Gary were enjoying themselves way too much again at the expense of others; I think I even saw some horns emerging from the top of their heads on Friday!
I am really looking forward to Gary’s interview; I am sure it will be both informative and entertaining! I hope we will be seeing him back on the Bulletin again very soon!
What else can I say about the "Kings of Congo?" This particular report brings tears to my eyes every time I see it. I can’t help but think about the fear these innocent gorillas and other animals are feeling listening to the shelling that is going on all around them. What must they be thinking? I am very glad that Anderson has put aside his objective journalist’s view for a moment in order to share his passion for these beautiful creatures with us! I certainly appreciate it.
I am thrilled that the DFGFI and Wildlife Direct websites were added to the 360 blog and that Anderson mentioned them on the air. I hope this will help with donations in this time of great need.
Man is certainly, as writer Richard Connell suggested, "The Most Dangerous Game."
