a bit too much Brit ...

Today’s Buzz ...

Tonight on Anderson Cooper 360°:

(Yes, that’s the same graphic as yesterday – I hope the story airs tonight – it probably got bumped last night because of Brit ... so sad ...)

I use the word “sad” for two reasons – first, because even with the proclamation from Anderson that “Normally we ignore her - the head shaving, paparazzi loving, groin-flashing, boozing, rehab-fleeing (pop princess)” – it still disappoints me that last night’s program led off with this story. It really should have been relegated to 20 seconds in one of the “bulletins”. The media simply continues to feed her narcissism by dissecting the most private aspects of her personal life. She is one of the most glaring examples of why humans shouldn’t be allowed to bear children until they can be emotionally accountable and responsible for their own actions. People who are begging to adopt orphaned children are grilled and scrutinized much more vigorously about their parenting capabilities. Anyway ... it’s also a very sad situation whenever children are removed from a mother’s care – and it may not be all that much of an improvement, but hopefully her two little boys are better off with their father, at least for the time being.

“Not right enough” Rudy Giuliani is facing some serious challenges from Christian conservatives. What took them so long? Are they just realizing that the thrice-married Rudy is a steadfast moderate parading in a Republican cloak? Frankly, shouldn’t Rudy be a third-party candidate – to appeal to moderate, middle-of-the-road voters who don’t identify closely enough with either Democrats or Republicans to support their nominee? I’m truly surprised that he’s maintained a poll lead for as long as he has. Oh please, please, please – let the conservatives either fund a third party candidacy, or support a current Republican candidate who won’t be the nominee ... as was suggested by Tony Perkins (Family Research Council President) during his interview. It will ensure that Hillary will be the one re-decorating the Oval Office on January 21, 2009.

I do hope that former FLDS member Elissa Wall wins her civil law suit against Warren Jeffs, so that at least some of his ‘fortune’ can be used to educate and free women and children from the bondage and slavery that so many are entrapped in. Educate and free them from the blind, dangerous devotion that leads to child rape and incest. The last time I looked at the calendar – it showed the year as being ‘2007’, and if I were to perform a Lexis-Nexus legal search, most states would show that having sex with a 14-year-old, by a first cousin, puts a checkmark in the "illegal" column for both categories. And unless the state-level law enforcement agencies in both Utah and Arizona have been compromised by the FLDS, it’s beyond my comprehension as to why they haven’t acted more aggressively against the crimes being committed in Hildale and Colorado City.

Did you know that Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas was ‘mad’? Not that you cared, of course. Other than the fact that his rage against liberals, whom he once embraced and identified with, has provided a basis for his legal decisions since at least 1991. That’s wrong. And the continuing infusion of political belief into legal interpretation undermines the very foundation of the original purpose for the Supreme Court, as part of the “checks and balances” that our government is (or maybe was?) respected for. On a side note, it was interesting to hear Anderson jump to Steve Kroft’s ‘defense’ when Jeff Toobin suggested that Justice Thomas could have been questioned a bit more vigorously during this past Sunday’s 60 Minutes interview.

Back to the first story for just a moment – and the ‘snarky’ set-up for the “BS” segment - this just dawned on me ...

“Snark Scoreboard”

Anderson Cooper – 127, 854, 632, 914 (yes, that’s 127 BILLION ... and counting ...)

Anyone else – 0 (yes, that’s zero ... and holding ...)

OK – enough from me for one entry – I’ll go back through my recording to see if I missed any screen caps – the only one that really caught my eye last night was Republican Presidential candidate Mike Huckabee playing the guitar ... it was a strange night for visuals ...

Thanks for visiting – updates posted as needed – have a terrific day!
